What is this shirt?

The official name of the shirts we sell is "Koikuchi shirts.

A "Koikuchi shirts" is one of the traditional costumes mainly used in Japanese festivals.
Koikuchi means "carp's mouth. The name "Koikuchi shirt" comes from the fact that the cuffs look like a carp's mouth.

Originally, there was a culture of showing tattoos to each other at Japanese festivals.
However, in the Showa period (1926-1989), showing tattoos outside was banned, and instead it became popular to wear flashy shirts at festivals.
Nowadays, a wide variety of patterns and colors are available, expanding the use of these shirts beyond the festival scene, for everyday use or as work clothes.

Each pattern, whether animal, plant, or flower, has its own meaning. Combine it with your own sense of style and show off your unique fashion to the world.
